Emotions are very much a part in playing poker. Emotions can easily break the equilibrium of a player's wit and mood and is often used to topple the good positioning of opponents in poker. Sometimes, this tactic of upsetting the emotions is more crucial than card strategies themselves. The game usually boils down to a contest of emotions.

By playing on opponents' emotions and tinkering a bit with their vulnerability they may be prodded to make silly moves. Such play on the emotions can put anybody off guard and pollute the imagination with irrelevant sexual thoughts instead of pursue a win.

It's not necessary to say anything just to catch an opponent's poker emotions. Minute glances and gesticulations are enough to send a message loud and clear. Of course, outright insults are a no-no and conversations are often restricted. But emotions can be reached effectively through other means.
